Ronald VALVASORI Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ron in his 87th year at St. Joseph's Villa on Monday, June 6th. Beloved husband of Rene (nee Moscardini) for 61 years. Loving father of Michael (Loren), RitaAnn (Ted), David (Monique), Paul (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather of Jessie, Samantha, Sara, Max, Rianna, Nicholas, Rachel, Lauren, Mya, Jack and Noah. Predeceased by his parents John and Ellen (nee McCluskey), his twin brother Jimmy, brother John - "Sonny", and sister Joanne. Also predeceased by his in-laws Emilio and Irene Moscardini. Loving brother of Rose Ireland (Philip), Betty Taylor (Barry), Jean Kennedy (Paul), brother-in-law of Andre Fortier, Cesare Moscardini (Barbara) and sister-in-law Georgina Kucherik. Ron was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his children and family. The countless fishing trips to the Grand River with all the neighborhood kids, skiing trips, Saturday morning farmers market runs, 6pm sharp family dinners, and spending summers at the cottage in Port Dover are lasting memories the family and friends will cherish forever. Ron enjoyed most sports and many activities throughout his lifetime including fishing, skiing, curling, baseball, hockey, cycling and volleyball. However, his greatest passion was golf. He started caddying at a very young age at Burlington GC and developed a lifelong love of the game. In recent years, he marshalled and enjoyed playing golf at Beverly GC. Throughout his life he was an active and committed parishioner for over 60 years at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He lectured, ushered and assisted with much of the church's finances and fund-raising activities. Ron was a conscientious, dedicated professional accountant employed by the Canada Revenue Agency for over 35 years. After retiring he devoted over 20 years assisting seniors with filing their tax returns (Volunteer program) ensuring they were done in a timely and accurate manner. This annual event reflected his compassionate and empathic spirit he demonstrated throughout his lifetime. We would like to thank the devoted staff at St. Joseph's Villa (Primrose Lane) for the care and compassion that was shown to Ron during his stay. The PSWs, Nursing and dietary staff were exceptional and we sincerely appreciated all their efforts. In accordance with Ron's wishes, there will be no visitation prior to the funeral. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 260 Herkimer Street, Hamilton, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Dundas. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas or the Alzheimer's Society of Hamilton, would be appreciated.

Such fond memories living across the alley on Stanley, and doing a lot of my growing up at the Valvasori home. Ron helped me get a job at the Red Barn on Upper James when I was 14, after spending time at the cottage. As I grew older he always took an interest in what I was up to and had life advice. A great guy who cared about everyone especially family. Rest in peace Ron.
