ROACH, Ruby Our wonderful mother Ruby has left us to return to the arms of her beloved husband Mike (2000). We her family, wish to announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Robina Roach (nee McCallum) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 94. Loving mother of Maureen Gilmour (Ken), George (Margaret), Richard, Deborah Luter (Joe Lewis) and Laurie Anderson. Cherished grandmother to David Gilmour (Nicole), Kathy Gilmour (Eric Miller), Jennifer Luter (Matt Morris), Brian Luter (Carlie Knudson) and Brandon Roach. Beloved GG to Sage Boswell and Maddyson and Alex Miller. Survived by her sisters-in-law Anna, Lillian, Audrey and Barbara and many nieces and nephews here in Canada, the USA, Scotland and England. Predeceased by her granddaughter Kristene Gilmour and her three brothers and three sisters. Ruby was born in Glasgow, Scotland on October 7, 1922. She was a veteran of WWII serving with the Royal Air Force with postings in Scotland and Wales. She met a Canadian soldier who stole her heart and they were married September 11, 1943 in Glasgow, Scotland. Ruby was one of the first war brides to leave Britain after the war arriving in Canada in May 1945, to meet her new Canadian family. Ruby was a Charter Member of Eastmount Presbyterian Church where she was active in various aspects of church ministry. She was a lifetime member of the RHLI Veterans Assoc., serving on both the Men's and Ladies Executives, Camp Maple Leaf and the Canadian Corps. Former employee of Dominion Stores. We are extremely grateful to the staff of St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke, especially those on Cedar Terrace, who cared for Mum with dignity, respect and love for these past eight years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Neighbour to Neighbour, Cancer Assist Program, the Hamilton SPCA or
charity of your choice would be appreciated by our family. Visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cresmount Funeral Chapel. Interment Field of Honour at Woodland Cemetery. Our hearts are heavy but you are free of this world, fly high, dance in the stars and know you are loved and will be missed beyond measure.
