With great sadness and very heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather on Tuesday, March 15th in his 82nd year with his family by his side. Rudolf (Rudy) Resjan was born on September 3, 1940, in his beloved village of Misinci, Croatia to parents Rudolf and Milka Resjan. He leaves behind the love of his life and soul mate Marica with whom he shared almost 61 wonderful years of marriage. Cherished and beloved father to daughter Anna and her husband Michael Bakarich. Adored Deda by his granddaughter Melissa with husband Neven Bilic along with grandson Mitchell Bakarich who were his greatest source of pride and joy. There was no limit or sacrifice he wouldn't make for his family as family was his greatest treasure. Pre-deceased by his parents and four sisters Dragica, Janica, Marica, and Zlata. Respected brother-in-law to Ivan (Barbara) Gojmerac of Canada and Nikola (Ljubica) Gojmerac and Pero Andrisevic of Croatia. Dear uncle to Rudy (Lillian) Hlacar, Tony (Mary) Hlacar and their families, Dannielle (James) Martin and Christine (Jon) Foreshew and their children. Rudy also leaves behind many nephews in Croatia and will be dearly missed by his extensive family, friends and neighbours in both Canada and Croatia. Rudy immigrated with his family to Canada in 1972, and was a dedicated Dofasco employee for 33 years until his retirement. A very proud, hard-working man with a variety of passions and interests. Rudy was an avid cyclist, gardener, concrete finisher, and creator of the secret family smoked meat recipe, enjoyed at many gatherings. Most of all Rudy loved to help others and was "majstor za sve". With a smile on his face and positive disposition he was a friend to all and admired by many. Also, a proud and active parishioner of Holy Cross Croatian Parish and an active participant within the Canadian Croatian Community. Special thanks to all physicians and staff at Juravinski Hospital especially Dr. Hotte, Nurse Maryann and the wonderful team at Ward C3 for their exceptional and compassionate care. Visitation at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. Entombment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery.
