It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth at her home on August 28, 2022, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a great number of people whose lives she touched and who will miss her deeply including her daughters Robin, Karen, and Tracy, and her grandchildren Madison, Callum, Essa, and Anson. Ruth was previously married to Allan Walter Lampman (dec.) for 34 years and her many nephews and nieces from the extended Lampman family also mourn her passing. In life, Ruth was loved by many for her strength, optimism, quick wit, and good company. She was passionate about gardening, music, birds, beaches, crosswords, and books. Her love of reading was nourished by decades working at the Burlington Public Library where she made lifelong friends. Meals with family and friends and travelling to scenic places like Australia, France, Italy, and Costa Rica were also favourite pastimes. Wherever she was, Ruth loved to be outside and never let a nice day go to waste. She embraced life and lived it on her own terms. A celebration of life will be held at the Art Gallery of Burlington on Saturday, September 24th from 1 to 4 p.m. with a chance to share remembrances at 2 p.m. Donations in memory of Ruth to the Hamilton Naturalists' Club would be appreciated.
