Sharon MAIN Obituary

September 22, 1943 - August 30, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Marjorie Main announce her passing. Feisty till the end, Sharon left us on August 30th in her 78th year at Riverbend Retirement Place. Predeceased by her parents Mary and Bill Main and partner Don Clayton, left behind is her beloved brother Marvin (Sheila), nephews Chris (Michelle), Michael (Trish), a loving Aunt Edith Renals and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharon lived her life as she liked, fearless and independent. She was a nurse at Toronto General and McMaster Hospital until her early retirement. She will be remembered for her love of animals, dogs, cats and in particular horses. Over the years she won many ribbons for showing her horses. Special thanks to the 3rd floor PSWs and Nursing staff at Riverbend Place for their incredible care, patience and support. Per Sharon's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. For expressions of sympathy please consider the Cambridge and District Humane Society (causes.benevity.org).

I was a nurse who worked with Sharon on Ward 3Y at McMaster. Sharon worked with us and ensured that we all gave great care to our patients. If we erred in anyway she would tell us but then moved on. She taught us all how to advocate for our patients and would ensure that nurses were respected by everyone. She was a feisty leader. I certainly missed working with her after her retirement.

I worked with Sharon at McMaster 3Y in my first years as a medical nurse, she was a tough cookie, but I learnt a lot from her over the years and thought of her fondly when we all went our separate ways.
