Sharon Ann Somerton

After a hard-fought battle, peacefully in her home on July 29th, 2022, Sharon Ann, cherished wife for over 40 years to Dr. Steve Somerton. Beloved mother to Lindsay King (Patrick) and Sean Somerton (Kathleen). Dear Stepmother to Alison Mencfeld (Brandon) and Ryan Somerton (Sophie). Sister to Glenn McHarg (Carol) and Sheila Leach. Loving and devoted Gramma to Taylor, Kyle, Molly, Quinn, Aven, Emma, Noah and Arlo. Loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A best friend to many, Sharon never forgot a special occasion or a chance to bring joy to others. She will be remembered for her selfless acts and her fierce loyalty and love to her family. Born June 8, 1950, in Hamilton to Jack and Florence (Logan) McHarg. Sharon devoted her professional career to the care of others. Graduating from the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1971, she devoted the next 10 years to the Burn Unit (Ward 25) at the old Hamilton General Site. She cared for some of the most complex and seriously ill patients, she had a compassionate nature and always viewed her patients as people. After leaving the unit she spent 2 years working for the very busy family practice of Doctors Day, Hind, Ferris and De Rubeis before moving to Brantford where she spent the next 39 years helping Steve manage his practice. She was a passionate volunteer at Church and with her kids' extracurricular activities. Sharon loved a good farmers market, lunch with friends and of course her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. Sharon dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her yearly trips to Grand Bend with her family is where she truly was in her glory with her grandbabies. Family and friends will be received at McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Rd. N, Brantford, on Wednesday August 3, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday August 4, 2022, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. A celebration of life will commence at 12 pm after visitation at the funeral home followed by a reception held on site. Please in lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Autism Ontario, in honour of her hero, Quinn.
