Shelley KELLY Obituary

Peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Sunday, February 13, 2022, in her 58th year. Beloved wife of Paul for 33 years. Loving mother of Alannah, Michaela, and Siobhan who meant more to her than anything else in the world. Predeceased by her parents Jay and Marilyn Neale. Shelley is survived by her brother Greg Neale(Jess), whose laughs helped sustain Shelley throughout many difficult times. Sadly missed by her special cousins Tara, Lisa, Lara and their families. Sister-in-law to Kathleen(Tom), Steve (Debbie), and the late Carolyn. Loved daughter-in-law of Carmela Kelly. Aunt to Matthew, Daniel, Thomas, Eric, Colin, Maia, Lewis, Indy, and Tilly. Also leaves behind one plump cat (Gus). Shelley was a beloved Kindergarten teacher with the HWCDSB for 35 years. She was truly appreciative of the love her students brought to her life. Shelley courageously battled Stage IV Breast Cancer for over 15 years. It would be impossible to list all the operations, drug regimens, blood tests, chemotherapy/ radiation sessions and hospitalizations Shelley endured, but she did it with dignity and grace, always more concerned about others than herself. Many thanks to Dr. Peter Ellis and the wonderful staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for providing years of excellent care. Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice especially nurses Mary and Madison(and her friend Willow). Thank you also to our friend and neighbour Tracy for her many Home Care visits. Healthcare workers are truly angels on Earth. Special thanks to the many friends who enriched Shelley's life and were always there for her, especially Anna, Daniela, Kathy, Greg, Henry, Kim, Carolyn, Colette, Karen, Jeff and Colleen, Earlene, Dana, and Alison. As per Shelley's wishes there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday February 19, at 11:00 a.m. at St Margaret Mary Church, 20 Idlewood Ave. Hamilton. Donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or the
SPCA.

To Paul & daughters & niece, and to Greg & family: I was so saddened to hear today of Shelley´s passing. I knew her from grade & high school, and SMM church. Shelley was always such a cheerful optimist, and I greatly admired her strength and bravery. Her loss will be felt always. This is sad news and my condolensces go out to her family. My memories go back to St Margaret Mary School and Brebeuf High School. Our paths crossed a few times at church, track & field, hockey rinks and she was always proud of her family. Shelley is someone I am glad to have known and I will miss dearly.

Mrs. Kelly was my first grade teacher at Our Lady of Peace and I will always remember her kindness, patience, and the joy she brought to learning. As a teacher, I hope I can live up to the example she set. My condolences to her family.

Paul, Alannah, Michaela and Siobhan,

Having known Shelley since high school, I am so grateful for her friendship of more than 40 years. I honestly have so few memories of her where she wasn't laughing. Even over the last 15 years of her illness she tried to focus on staying positive. There are very few people who could do that with all she went through but somehow she managed it. She fought so long and so hard to stay with you all...she was a true warrior, a true friend & a true inspiration. She will be missed dearly by all of us who were fortunate to know and love her. May the memories of her love & laughter bring you much solace.

Mr. Kelly & his girls,

I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Shelley most vividly smiling back at me at church, from I was a baby till a young girl, & the light & love of life that shone from her eyes. May the beautiful memories sustain you through the devastation of grief. Sending love & prayers to you all during this difficult time. I couldn´t see this notice & not write something, Mr. Kelly being one of my favourite teachers & having been through the loss of a parent myself. God bless you all & Shelley´s soul.

Paul, Alannah, Michaela and Siobhan
It's really difficult for me to put in a few sentences all of the happy memories I have shared with Shelley. I can still remember the first day I met her after her interview at Our Lady of Peace. That day started a great friendship and continued for over 30 years. We had such a fun time teaching together. In the past few months we got to sit and talk about the fun times and the good ol days . I will cherish those memories. Rest in peace my dear friend. I will miss you dearly.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Shelly was the greatest teacher to both my children (Daniela and Michael) She was like a mother to both of them and it made me feel comfortable knowing that they were in great hands. We became more like friends then teacher/parent. She will always be remembered. To Alannah (banana) a big hug from Michael. we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Shelley, we will all miss you so very much. You were my friend for over 40 years. Throughout that time we had so many laughs - most recently with you and the girls driving around in the Jeep with the top down! You were a great person who fought the hard fight and you are a winner. You leave behind a beauty family ready to carry on your legacy. Rest well my friend with the angels. Xox
