Dear Graham and family,

My condolences as well, as my younger brother Tom and I remember back in the day, what a sheer delight it was when our Dad & Mom (Paul & Elsie) would announce on an occasional Friday night, that we were off to visit your folks and enjoy some fish & chips (wrapped in the faux newsprint!)

Your parents at the fryers as we came in, your mom would then lead my brother and I up and into your very cool - we thought! - inner sanctum (living room) with our dinner, just a few steps up from the shop.

Sylvia would then show us the amazing trifle dessert she´d made, sitting so gorgeous on the counter - and something we´d not set eyes on before. We were riveted as she dished some out for us, and expressed serious admonition not to drop any of it on the furniture as we ate it in front of the `telly´.

I also remember the 3 gals, your mom, ours, and Ivy out to hit downtown for some shopping and lunch on occasion... one of those rare times when I remember our very reserved mom being comfortable enough to head out for some personal time; and I´m certain Sylvia was a real part of that comfort level.

Your folks were so lively when we saw them, especially during the countless visits to our place for the Barbershop singing, eating, imbibing, and generally lifting of spirits in our house.

Your mom was a great lady, Graham.
May she rest in beautiful peace...dear Sylvia

Hello Graham,
You certainly will remember my dad-Paul Reeve-newson. He and mom(Elsie) were good friends for many a year. Stu referred to dad as the Reeve of Westdale-an accurate moniker with dad's grandfather having emigrated from Bournemouth,
England. Mom, Ivy, and Sylvia would sometimes get together to go shopping. Your parents were lovely people.
Actually, my husband, daughter and I leave for Kitchener May 31st. There we will meet up with our son, daughter-in-law, and grand-daughter to inter my dad's ashes june 1st. He died during Covid 3 years ago.
I'm placing his barbershop pin in with his ashes.
Now 69 years old myself, it all seems like a 100 years ago with a barbershop quartet practicing in the living room on King St.
Your mom was a terrific knitter - I wished I'd thought to ask her to teach me.
All the best.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of a dear friend 'Dearie', ( as Stewart called her ). My sympathy and condolences to you Graham, and family. Had many visits to Parkdale F & C, and enjoyed every visit with Sylvia and Stewart. I remember seeing her at all the Barbershoppers conventions and our Social events so many years ago. Rest in peace, Dearie.
