Theresa Mittelbach Obituary

June 1, 1943 - February 26, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Mittelbach, Sunday, February 26, 2023 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was in her 80th year and predeceased by her beloved husband Gunther "Bill" Mittelbach. Loving mother of Joe (Karen) Martindale, Bart (Carmen) Martindale and John (Jodi) Martindale. Caring stepmother to Peter Mittelbach and Rita (Paul) Veltri. Dear Oma to Emily and Ryan, Ben and Brady, Connor, Sabrina (Matt) and Courtney (Jonathan), Brittney (Glen) and Bridget. Great-grandmother to Rokstyn and Veronika. She will be deeply missed. Theresa was the youngest of 10 children from Arie and Grietje Hoeflaak. She is survived by brother Cor (Dianne) Hoeflaak, sister Shirley Zandwyk and sister-in-law Corrie Hoeflaak. Also survived by her dear friend of 68 years Thelma "Rita" Giglia. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Taniguchi and all the staff and doctors at St. Peter's for their care, compassion and sympathy throughout Theresa's stay. Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Monday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m., following visitation. Interment to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Peter's Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family. Theresa was a wonderful lady. My husband and I met her years ago, shortly after we moved into our home (2012). Our friendship grew stronger more recently. Theresa was a strong believer in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and I know she i was looking forward to going home. Although her passing is very sad, we have joy in knowing that she is now in glory with Him in heaven.
Our deepest sympathies to her family - may God comfort and strengthen during this time.
