Thomas POLLOCK Obituary

Ted passed away on April 16, 2022, after complications from cancer and a stroke. He was the best husband to Nancy, father to Sarah, and brother to Robert (Bob). Ted was born in Hamilton in 1944 to parents Erven Francis and Helen Margaret (Peggy) nee McNeil. A proud graduate of McMaster University, with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Ted began his career as a professor at Clemson University in South Carolina. He then moved to Pasadena, California where he met his wife, Nancy, on a blind date in 1984. His career took him and his family to Waterloo, San Francisco, Ann Arbor, and Mississauga until his retirement as President of Ramboll in 2015. Ted was a father who enjoyed spending as much time with Sarah as he could: playing board games, playing sports, watching movies, and doing yard work - even shovelling the driveway usually turned into a snowball fight. He had a witty sense of humour and positive outlook to make every activity, no matter how mundane, enjoyable. In his retirement years he enjoyed golfing with his friends as much as possible. More than anything, Ted was a kind, decent, and humble person who was well respected as a leader in his professional and personal life. He wanted the best for his family and for the world. For those who knew him, perhaps dedicate your next round of golf to Ted and to those you love, honouring them for the gifts they bring into our lives (especially if you golf a good game...and if not, take a page out of Ted's book and - with a smile - blame those bogeys on the wind). Donations can be made to the Halton Learning Foundation, a charity that Ted supported. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333). Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. with a formal service at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.smithsfh.com

Dear Nancy and Sarah,

I am so devastated to hear the news of Ted's passing. Nancy, you have spoken of Ted when we all used to sit around the lunch table at work and I know how much you loved him. I hope in the not-too-distant future, we can sit together in the staff room and I look forward to hearing stories about your life together with Ted.

I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved husband and father.

With deepest sympathy,

Tracey Baruch
