Tom GAUTHIER Obituary

July 20, 1937 - April 17, 2022

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Tom Gauthier on Easter Sunday, in his 85th year. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to Norma, they were high school sweethearts and married for over 61 years. Treasured father of Jim (Tracey), Andy (William) and Lisa (Joel). Cherished popa of Matt, Emma and Olivia. Dear brother of Blanche Szendrey (late John) and the late Jack, Jim and Margaret. Tom had a long and successful career in broadcasting, television and radio sales. His charismatic personality touched the lives of everyone he met. His work took him to many places over his life with Montreal and Hamilton holding a special place in his heart. He was a passionate "Habs" fan, avid golfer and reader who loved to travel. Tom had an adventurous spirit and he instilled this trait into his children. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, Grimsby (905-945-2755) on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. with tributes for Tom at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice or the Canadian Lung Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com

Well I think I read your message more than a few times. Each time I cry. I hold a great deal of respect and admiration for uncle Tom. The Man he was at the Man he continues to be in our minds. Sorry We could not make it to the service. Joanne, Shawn, Brenda, and others will be there to express our deepest condolences and warm support.
I remember the little customized; better yet a personalized book that Uncle Tom presented to me when I was very young at Grandmas House. I couldn´t believe how he had my name in the book but he did. I can´t find it today but I do remember that gesture and the special nature of it. He was always on top of every detail. Also memories of the time I was taken by a transport into Montreal to visit with you for a week way back when. I remember that big city and how you took care of me. Didn´t i get lost also? Lol.
Once we move into our new home here in Calabogie I would like to host the family here for a few days so please discuss a three to four day period (or more or less) that would work to come to Calabogie for a holiday next year.
Wanted to send this personal note to let you know that we´ll be thinking about Uncle Tom well into the future and especially this weekend. Want to let you know that if you need anything at all please reach out to us and stay in touch. Love you always and your kindness is unmatched.

I worked with Tom in the 60's at CFCL TV while still attending high school. Just recently I have been attempting to locate many of my co-workers at CFCL including Tom. It was just this morning that I came upon his obituary. I was deeply saddened as I would like to have had the opportunity to do a little reminiscing with Tom. Tom always was fun to work with and forever had a infectious smile. May you rest in peace my friend. I hope to attend your celebration of life in June.
