Trevor DEMERIS Obituary

It is with grief and sadness that the family announces the passing of Trevor Demeris after a heroic 15-month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. His journey came to an end May 12, 2022, at Carpenter Hospice. Trevor is survived by his cherished wife of 25 yrs., Elizabeth (Betsy) and his adored children: Brandon (21), Brianna (19), and Aidan (17). Grieving with them: his best friend and brother Shaun Demeris (Mel), his sister Kelley Hall (Dale), aunt Lynne Beckett and mother Gail Demeris. Also grieving his loss are his in-laws, whom he held dear to his heart; Parents Bill and Judi Nusbaum, and siblings Crissy King, Debbie Nelson, Steve Nusbaum (Lidia). Trevor will also be fondly remembered as a loving uncle to his ten nieces and nephews. Trevor was an educator, working twenty-five years across three school boards. He spent the last 15 with the Halton Catholic School Board where he became principal for the last ten of those years. He genuinely enjoyed his vocation and loved the children with whom he worked. Trevor was active in the fight against Cancer having raised over $27,000 on his seven "Rides to Conquer Cancer". These benefitted Princess Margaret Hospital. When not in school, his hobby was gardening, and he was a master at it with a landscaper's eye for colour and design. Being a very private man and extremely family oriented, Trevor requested that there be no visitation. He wanted a private family funeral surrounded by those he loved so much. This is being respected by his family. His loss is devastating, but he will be in our hearts forever. Should anyone wish to remember Trevor by donation, favoured charities would be: Carpenter Hospice: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/13666 The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation: https://supportthepmcf.ca/ui/DonateNow/donations/start

My deepest sympathy to the Beckett and Demeris family. Loved Trevor and have such fond memories of him with our kids at the cottage. He was so spunky and had such a love of life. A bright light lost too soon

My 3 children were lucky enough to have Trevor as their principal at OLV. They always bragged that he knew every student in the school by name. He never missed an opportunity to chat with the kids and listen to their silly stories. Personally I loved seeing him in his orange vest that he never took off; that always brought a smile to my face. Professionally I got to know Trevor when I decided to make the move from teaching high school to elementary. He spent time with me taking about the ins and outs of elementary and this solidified my decision to move. After that we kept in touch via email and he always had the time to listen and provide advice. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

My condolences to Mr.Demeris family and friends. OLV has lost a great one; but will not be forgotten. He was dear to me and my family. He helped us out in one of the most difficult times in our lives. He would call me and email me to make sure that our family was okay. He always went above and beyond any expectations. He is one of the reasons why my daughter is still her today. He was truly a great man, will be missed.

My most sincere condolences to the Demerits family. Trevor was my Vice Principal at St Brigid and we all shared many laughs together. He referred to us all by last names only making us wonder if he knew our first names. He worked tirelessly to make our school a beautiful and fun place to teach. Trevor and his family will be in my thought and prayers. God bless

I am so very sorry to hear that Mr. Demeris has passed away. I wish to offer my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He was my son's principal for JK-Grade 1, and these were very difficult years for him. Mr. Demeris called me every Sunday night for a check-in chat for a whole school year--just one of the many ways he went above and beyond because he cared so much for his students.

Mr. Demeris was will always be remembered as an educator with compassion and caring in our household. He took time out of his day the day our child was diagnosed with an illness to share his own story. This is a huge loss for HCDSB and education. God bless his family as they navigate through this difficult time.
