Vera Mavis DOWNEY

DOWNEY, Vera Mavis September 3, 1926 - December 1, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vera Mavis Downey, peacefully delivered to the Lord, in the comfort of family. Predeceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth, sisters Victoria May, Norma Pauline, infant Vivian Melba and brother Wayne. She was a cherished aunt and second Mom to David (Jeanne), Valerie (Tom), Carol, Jonathan (Jane), Tamara (Polly) and Jason (Jennifer). She leaves behind a loving sister Ruth Williams, brother-in-law Leon Ehler and many nieces and nephews (including great and grand). Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Vera headed to Hamilton for work and was a long time employee of Dominion Glass. Vera was musical, kind and giving, always putting others before herself. Guided by her strong faith, she was actively involved in local and global charities, particularly those that helped children. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at West Plains United Church, 549 Plains Road W., Burlington, ON.
