Virginia Cameron Obituary

At 75, Gin's gone to her next adventure. On August 10, after battling cancer, she died in the arms of her sister and her long-time dear friend at St Peter's, Hamilton. Devoted friends and family allowed her to spend much of her illness at home. Proud mother of David Herbert (Erin) of Bellingham, Washington, and Lee McGuigan (Dave) of Berryville, Virginia. Grandchildren Macson, Winter and Faris were her joy. Survived by sisters Nancy Evans (George, deceased), Laurel Harrison (Jay), sister-in-law Marilyn Cameron, and wonderful nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Stuart. After university, Gin worked for Ancaster and Hamilton libraries. Retirement followed, the last six spent in White Rock, BC to be near grandchildren. A traveler, passionate gardener, bridge player, social justice advocate and environmentalist, Gin was admired for her honesty, loyalty, inquisitive mind, love of art, passion for causes, and her infectious laugh. Leaving us sad, but with many stories to share, we desperately hope that by 2022 all Canadians will be vaccinated so that family and friends may gather, hug, and Celebrate her life. A Ceilidh memorial will be held in Cape Breton. Donations in her memory can be made to Hamilton Naturalists' Club.

She was a great friend and shared her social justice values with me.
I understood but was saddened when she moved back home to Hamilton.

In public school, she was the first girl that I ever kissed. An angel then, as now.
