Walter MARTENS Obituary

(1937 - 2022)
It is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of their father, Walter Eric Martens, on January 22, 2022, in his 85th year. Walter was born and raised in Saskatchewan on the family farm to the late Heinrich and Pauline Martens. He went on to attain his Engineering degree at the University of Saskatchewan, and from there he moved to Hamilton, Ontario, both beginning his career and retiring from Westinghouse. It was in Hamilton that Walter met his beloved wife Barbara Bolt (predeceased in 2004) and began their family. Walter leaves behind his much-loved children Robert (Kim McLaughlin), John (Terry), Janet (Arcangelo Pavan) and Catherine Hines (Stephen Burchill). Dear grandfather to Jared, Taylor, Justin, William, Meaghan (Jonathon), Jacob, Julia, Andrew, Sarah, Katelyn, Ethan, and Jack. Predeceased by his siblings Mary, John, Harry, and by his son-in-law Kyle Hines. Walter will be fondly remembered by his friend Laura Hamilton as well as extended family and friends. The family wishes to thank Mariann of Bayshore Nurses and Nurse Next Door Home Care Service for their care and kindness in his final days. A Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 4pm - 7pm.
