Passed away peacefully at his home in Burlington, on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Esther (nee Johnson) for 73 years. Loving father of Debora Swick (Dan), Carol Wolkoff (late Irvin), Susan Foss, Michael Foss (Lucy Nicolas) and Mona Foss (Michael Hill). Cherished Grandpa of 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 8 siblings and will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends.
Warren was born in Edmonton, Alberta where he spent his early years at school, playing hockey and working on the side to help support a large family.
He met his beloved Esther in high school. They were separated by the war in 1942, when Warren enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained as a pilot. They married in 1948 and through his career with International Harvester, lived in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Yorkton and finally settled in Burlington for the last 53 years.
Warren will be remembered for his athleticism and love of sports, whether playing or watching, his unsurpassed memory for details, his ability to tell a great story, and his love of a good time with friends and family.
Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 12noon until time of Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 1 p.m. There are no capacity restrictions for the visitation and service, however proof of full vaccination is required to attend.
