Wayne ATANAS Obituary

We are sad to announce that after a courageous hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease, Wayne passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 3, 2021 at the age of 75. Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn (Shedden) who after 50 years of marriage was always his "bride". Devoted father of his three precious girls who he adored more than life itself, Jacqueline (Dave), Charlene (Geoff) and Jennine who he has mourned for 27 years and now he is reunited with. Worlds greatest Papa to Mikayla, Megan and Lauren Seeley and Olivia and Connor Elston. Being a Papa was Wayne's greatest joy in life. Also loved by Chloe, Natasha, Danica and Ethan Salvo. Treasured big brother to Ken (Robin) Atanas, Keith Atanas, Bill (Jo) Atanas and Wendy (Joe) Cousins. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Gord Shedden (2008). Love and admired by his many nieces and nephews. Wayne left a lasting impact on the countless lives he touched over his 34 years of teaching. He was an active member of St. Andrews United Church for 49 years. To honor Waynes memory donations can be made to St Andrews Memorial Fund, Parkinson's Canada or to do something to make this world a better place. That is who Wayne was. Our family will take comfort in the legacy that Wayne has left and how he has taught us that love will get us through anything. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will take place on Tuesday, March 9th at 11 a.m. You are invited to attend the service by live streaming it at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery. "And I think to myself...what a wonderful world"

My condolences Marilyn. I regret not keeping in better touch.

Wayne was very much a part of the cycling scene and our club (Hamilton Cycling Club) and it was sad to see hhis gradual returemnet from racing due to the disabilities of his illness. He was also a staeday hand on the tiller of our club for several years as President and your family is remembered in perpetuity through the Jennine Atanas Memorialawarded to the rider demonstrating dedication, perseverance and good sportsmanship.
