It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Wayne Cruickshanks. After suffering from relentless illnesses for years, he made his own peace with his passing. We hope he has found at last, eternal calm and final rest. Wayne was brother to Ron (deceased). He was the loving 20-year partner to Joanne Blundell and stepfather to her children Stephanie (Rob) and Candace (Dan). He was grandpapa to Joshua and Aaron. He was Uncle Wayne to his nieces and nephews Wayne Jr., Diane, Ron Jr., Jamie (Tiffany), Nadine (Joe), and Michael (Vebeka). Wayne took them all into his life with love and generosity. For many years, as a lawyer and judge, Wayne was an inspiration to many who, we know, will hold him in their hearts and minds. A life well-lived is a great joy, its passing a bittersweet sorrow. A book closes when a reader grows weary of the tale and writes its best ending. We love you, Wayne. Be at peace. Our gratitude to the Juravinski Hospital medical staff of Ward E4.

From there to here
Yesterday to Today
What Tomorrow Brings
The Whispering of the Great Expanse
Who knew that in this final dance
We would gather together
To say goodbye just like this
In the honoring of your life
We wish to simply say
You are a gift
From the stresses of early on
It was in your steadiness
That helped to keep us moving on
In times of uncertainty
You were a rock
That will last to eternity
And in the times when you appeared
With a harder and crusty shell
We always knew
That underneath
Was a one of a kind
Heart of gold
Just as you
At this final turning
In this departing now
We will always hold in your place
Memories of camping,
Turkey cooking
As a lover of all things
Gardening
As you leave us now
We hope
Whatever you believe
And where you find yourself
You might meet your Mom again
And maybe Aurore and your brother too
Who knows maybe you'll smoke cigars, pipes
Drink wine and eat turkey too
For in this new dance
Go now and
Be at Peace
In the Great Expanse
You are always loved
And this is what
We will take from you.
