William "Bill" Vanderlubbe

Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 24th, 2021 at the age of 89. Bill will be missed dearly by his daughter Rene and son Bill (Carol). He also leaves behind his brothers Max and Reen and sisters Rita and Ann. Bill was born in the Netherlands in 1932. After World War II, the family moved to Suriname and then eventually settled in Dundas. He worked at Jackson's Bakery and Bertram's in his twenties, before opening his grocery store "Bill's Quality Foods". He continued to run his grocery store until his retirement in 1994. Bill and Gwen enjoyed their retirement spending time in Florida and travelling around the world. They made friends on every cruise they went on and knew so many people in the Garth Trails community and Dundas. He experienced an emotional struggle after losing Gwen, his wife of 62 years, in 2019. Though in his last year he bounced back to his usual happy and positive self living at Highgate Residence in Ancaster. Heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care and kindness Bill received from the wonderful staff at Highgate, who made him feel like family during a difficult year. Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or a charity of your choice.
