ADA WYNSTON Obituary

ADA WYNSTON 1936 - 2014 Holocaust Survivor I know it is difficult to believe, but with this notice I am saying goodbye to all my friends and family. My time, dear friends, is up. My life has run its course. I want to thank you all for having made my life here an exceptional exciting one. It could not have been better: "je ne regrette rien". To my devoted husband Pierre I can only say that I have enjoyed our sojourn together - it has been such a wonderful 30 years. My son has been to me all that a mother could want in her child: A cherished husband to Rita, a devoted father to Tom and Laura. My siblings are beyond praise: Betty, my sister and Sidney my brother, I have loved you from the day when you were born and I have always felt the favour returned - so many times over. My funeral will be at the Bathurst Lawn Cemetery, Bathurst and Steeles, section 17, on December 1st at 11.00 a.m., www.hebrewbasicburial.ca Please park your car in the lot of the Pride of Israel Synagogue, next to the cemetery. Thank you all for your friendship during my life and your caring while I was stricken with leukemia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hammer Band or the charity of your choice.

To Ada's family:
I had a chance to meet Ada through the Dutch Lunch Club. She shared her story with me soon after we met and then helped me to coordinate Holocaust Week at my church and the following year at a church where I was working. She was a joy to work with. So passionate about life and what was important to her.

Ada also helped me to connect with the Dutch community in Toronto and allowed me to practice my limited knowledge of the Dutch language and encouraged me to use it more.

She touched so many lives and will be missed by many. Ada left this life much too soon yet her legacy will live on.

Note: She knew me as Arienne Kostering. I immigrated from Holland when I was a litle girl.

Ada and I met in Toronto in the early 1990's. At this time she was working with a trustee in bankruptcy. As part of divorce proceedings, I was forced into bankruptcy. This was a humiliating experience for me. Ada was professional and compassionate. About a year later I received a handwritten letter from Ada. She enclosed a tax return cheque and endorsed it to me. Technically, I was not entitled to this money.
Ada somehow knew I was not responsible for this financial mess and, with this gesture and a kind note, showed her support. It was an act of kindness in my life that I will never forget. She was a lovely woman.

Dear Pierre and Family, It was an honour to know Ada. She was a wonderful person and my late husband Peter and I were proud to know her. We all will miss her. I have a photo here that I took at the last Dutch Bazaar in October last year, 2013. Love, Tineke Lubbe.
