Doc Adrian was working at Military City in Asir province of Saudi Arabia in 76..77. He was a surgeon and also performed the aircrew medicals for the RSAF at Khamis Mushayt. We saw him most days as he would sit in our crewroom on the flight line and hold court.
He was so popular our company MO complained about Adrian treating 'his" patients.
After a brief adult conversation the BAE doctor scuttled away.
A week later Adrian was, as always, consulting when the BAE doc and another guy found him.
The newbie was a senior MO sent from UK to sort Adrian out.
It was interesting to see Adrian demolish the pair of them when the Senior suit said "we're all doctors"..
There's only one doctor here..and that's me..there's an excuse for a doctor there..and some guy who used to be a doctor .. but I'M the doctor..and noone on earth will stop me seeing patients who ask for my help.
From acupuncture on the flight line..to ressectioning a bat ear on the swimming pool diving board..Adrian was the epitome of Doctoring.
And his love of the Goon show made him more of a hero
God has now got the best medical facility ever in his care

Would any member of Dr Hobart's family like to get in touch; I have some very lovely photos and correspondence from his Cambridge days which they might like to see.
