DIMOU, AFRODITI (nee IOANNIDIS) On May 6, 2020, Afroditi Dimou became a victim of COVID-19 and reposed peacefully in her sleep. Her family is very grateful for the kind care she was given by all the staff at the Hellenic Home for the Aged during the last few years of her life. Afroditi (Dita) was born on March 25, 1918 in Mavrokambo (Cernovischa), Greece. She was married in Gavros (Gabresh) to Lazaros Dimou who was killed in 1948 during the Greek civil war. She immigrated to Canada in 1956. She is survived by her children Rena and her husband Louis Biskaris and George and his spouse Konstantina Dimou. She is also the Grandmother of Sandra (Steve) Sadler, Michael (Melanie) Biskaris, Nick (Kristina) Biskaris, Christina (Andrew Wood) Dimou, Ekaterini (Juan Carlos) Recio and Marialena (Richard) Jones. She is also the Great-Grandmother of Caitlin, Allison and Hillary Sadler; Liam and Lauren Biskaris; Connor and Sarah Doyle Dimou; Sebastian, Alexandros and Elimey Recio; Elliot and Vivienne Jones and Great-Great-Grandmother of Laz, the son of Hillary Buckley. We remember her for her sacrifices, selflessness and unconditional caring. She leaves us with no regrets but a strong admiration for her character and spirit. We love her dearly. Due to the fact Afroditi had tested positive for COVID-19, we will have a closed casket, service at the Heritage Funeral Centre followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens (2700 Kingston Rd). Unfortunately, there will be no visitations and attendance is being restricted to the immediate family members. We hope that we will be able to have a proper memorial for Dita, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother soon when we have this very terrible virus behind us. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged at 2411 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough, ON M1P 3C1, 416-654-7718.
