Alayne MONKS Obituary

MONKS, Alayne Gay (nee Love) - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her home in Mississauga at the age of 71, surrounded by her family after a three-month battle with an aggressive cancer. Cherished wife of Raymond for over 51 years. Loving mother of Robert (Janice), Jodi Ascroft (Bruce) and Jane Burrows (Brian). Proud Nana of Charlotte, Michael, Holly, Victoria and Kayley. Daughter of the late Jane and James Love. Dear sister of Heather Nadal (Anthony), Jim Love (Anne) and Michael Love (Lori). Alayne will be sadly missed by many family members and friends. She was the centre of the family universe. A loyal and caring friend, family counsellor and social organizer. Happy gatherings of family and friends and love of good food were always important. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Wong, her family doctor, Dr. Gupta and the Trillium Palliative Care Unit and the dedicated CCAC care team. Also thank you to the dedicated staff of the Largo Medical Center in Largo, FL. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N. of the QEW), on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. Online condolences available through www.turnerporter.ca

Your the most amazing person I know. Your zest for life, craziness, throwing caution to the wind and incredibly large heart is missed. I am so thankful I have your laugh, smile and craziness.

Thank you to whomever put a photograph of Alayne in the guest book. I never had the pleasure of meeting Alayne but a photograph speaks a thousand words and Alayne was clearly the positive, generous and fun loving Aunt that Kris Smorenburg spoke of. I know
Alayne has left a lot of broken hearts and was taken far too soon but God has another plan for her apparently and I will bet her family and loved ones have already felt her warm rays of sunshine from above. My thoughts and prayers are for all of you to help you through this very difficult time.

A life well lived is a precious gift,
of hope and strength and grace,
from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.

It's filled with moments, sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears,
with friendships formed and good times shared,
and laughter through the years.

A life well lived is a legacy,
of joy and pride and pleasure,
a living, lasting memory
our grateful heart's will treasure

God must have a BIGGER plan for our best friend. He needed a top angel... and for sure he got it in Alayne. May she be forever in our memories and thoughts. We love the whole family... you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Heck, Alayne made us part of the family. That is how she rolled. Selfless, loving and giving. Advice bang on all the time. She is still with us all. With love.. Maria and Grace xoxo

Dear Ray, Jodi, and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Alayne was a brave, fascinating lady who loved her family. I always enjoyed and looked forward to her funny e-mails. Despite the miles apart, I shall greatly miss her presence in my life. As I prayed for her in life, I say prayers for all of you, her family, at this difficult time. She was such a special person and I know you all already know that. With love to you all,
