I was very saddened to hear that my friend Alfie has passed away. Alfie kept me laughing for years on end at Metro and made work enjoyable. I'll never forget watching Alfie play chess at lunch time while eating his peanut butter sandwiches and his banana while taking on all comers. I don't remember seeing him lose but we always had a great laugh. It always amazed me that Alf could remember whatever car he was driving when talking about past times and what tires were on that car! Listening to Alf and his good friend Irv argue about the silliest things kept me in stitches for over 10 years while working with the "best guys on the planet". I am truly lucky to have known Alf and we always had great car/sports/pool discussions. Alf made going to work a pleasure. Thank you for everything Alfie. I'll miss you big guy. My condolences to Barb and his family.

Dear Barbara I was so sorry to hear about Alfie's passing. He was the original Beaut Montana. The handball players remember him so fondly, especially the 3-wall players. Even after many decades, Alfie was always working on making his off hand better. He was always a treat at the courts and especially over a beer afterwards. And when Ian was around at the same time, it was just such a hoot. Unfortunately, the OHA is hosting the Canadian Nationals May 18-21 in Burlington. So a lot of the handball players will be on courts when the celebration of life takes place. But I know Alfie would understand. Barbara, please take care of yourself.
