ALLAN GUY Obituary

GUY, ALLAN M.G. On Friday, February 7, 2020, Allan ("Al") Guy, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 47. Born May 12, 1972 in St. John's, NF to Allan and May (Pinsent) Guy, Al was the youngest of three children and only son. Al spent his early years in Pickering, ON before moving to Saskatoon, SK. He completed high school and graduated from University of Saskatchewan, then moved to Toronto to complete a Computer Animation diploma at Seneca. Although Al went on to have a career in Accounts, he enjoyed the arts and always encouraged others' creativity. He loved concerts, travelling with friends and learning. Following in his grandfathers' footsteps, Al was initiated into the masonry with The General Mercer Lodge 548 on March 14, 2014 and raised as a Master Mason on October 31, 2015. He was an active and loved member of his Lodge. He leaves behind his parents, May and Allan, his two sisters Alison (Joe) and Katrina (Erik), along with his two nephews Alex and Max, and nieces Ellie and Maggie. A service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel on 2357 Bloor St. W at 3 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Covenant House, or your local homeless youth program.

Hi. I went to high school with Al and was very sorry to hear of his passing. We are planning a reunion and I've received some pics I thought his family might not have seen before and would like to have. Hope they bring you some comfort.

Dearest Al,

You will remain forever in my mind and heart.

My fondest memory with him was our BC vacation.

He helped me save for that trip after many years of not taking a vacation and he making it all possible. It was one place where I had hoped to go sometime, but was always too expensive.
We saved and got there to spend 2 wonderful weeks with his sister and her family, imposing upon her kindness despite a house full, they drove us to the top of a mountain to see a waterfall, and we also visited beautiful Victoria and Vancouver.

I look back and can appreciate his effort to get us there at any cost. He always had thoughts of doing everything together. He was truly a special person who cared about people and showed it in a way not just by words but actions. He had an open heart for people and the depth of his caring for all that he met along his journey.

He made his mark on me and my family with this strength, energy and generously giving of his time and advice.

He was Uncle Al - to the kids in my family - they loved and remember him and are so sad to hear the news of his passing. He was a good and true heart. I will miss his passion for life and his strength through all of life's challenges.

He was too young to go but memories are there to remind us that he was in our lives for those few moments - not long enough.

The last I heard from him was an email - one I had hoped to go see him but sadly that never happened.

Rest in Peace, Al......

Love forever,
Carol Saini & family

My condolences to the Guy family. Al was a loyal and true friend and I will miss him. I just wanted you to know that he valued family and friends above all else. He always mentioned his family when we talked on the phone and the adventures he shared with his friends out West and in Toronto.
He was proud of where he was raised and was a very thoughtful and generous man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was shocked and so sorry to hear this sad news. When I was working in Sales at Global Television, Lethbridge, Allan and I would often talk, and about many things. Allan was a great fellow! InDeeD! He will be missed.
... and then today (Serendipity perhaps) a dear friend of ours posted this on Facebook. An incredible rendition of "The Sound of Silence" immediately made me think of Allen fondly. I hope it is felt to be fitting and appropriate; this 2015 cover by, David Draiman, lead singer for the metal group, Disturbed. http://www.worthytoshare.info/singer-paralyzes?fbclid=IwAR3OSle7yqWrItgYqQwd4k_WLPUDYoNA_JcJ7PpYNutMf01uEF-Pmpcxd3A

Allan, my Brother, from the very first day we met, we had an instantaneous friendship. Our similarities were uncanny. You made this Vet remember what it was like to be normal and let people in. Your fascination of the world and all the people in it was contagious and I grew in so many ways because of our discussions. I will miss you, our talks, and your passion for all things. I am so blessed to have had you as a part of my life Brother!Love and Respect my Brother, Chris Mahoney
