ALLAN McDERMOTT Obituary

McDERMOTT, ALLAN Peacefully, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Allan McDermott, age 93 years, beloved husband of Carol McDermott. Dear father of Ann (Garth Nash) and Alison (Duncan Bailey). Loving grandfather of Ainsley, Braeden, Robin and Glynn. Dear brother of the late Barbara Perkins. He will be sadly missed by several cousins and nephews. Friends may call at the Forrest and Taylor Funeral Home, Sutton, on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. Funeral Service at St. James Church on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society are appreciated.

"Uncle Al", as Allan McDermott was known by many, was a good friend and long-time colleague. He was a teacher at my high school in North York and then we reconnected as colleagues in Thornhill when I began my own teaching career. He was the ultimate professional as an educator and a kind, thoughtful, and generous friend. He hosted many annual staff gatherings at his cottage on Lake Simcoe. My thoughts today are with Carol and family.

I first met Allan McDermott in the 1970"s when we lived close to them in Willowdale. Allan was an educator and Carol was a stay at home Mum with her daughters Ann and Alison. After Allan's retirement they moved out of Toronto and we lost contact with them.
My condolences to Carol , Ann & Alison and their families . May Allan rest in peace and may God give Carol and the girls the strength they need to cope with their loss.
