Dear Bridgette, Mark, Paul and Elliott:
I have been trying to phone Aranka to wish her a Happy Birthday, only to find her telephone is not connected. I bought her a lovely hanging flower arrangement for her balcony and a birthday card to deliver to her. We were not in touch a lot but every few months or so. I last spoke with her when Farm Boy opened across the street and again, soon after. She was so excited about how beautiful the store was and very much enjoyed what it had to offer. We knew each other for many years. I used have an appointment with her approximately once a month. She also used to see my mother. When I went to see her, I would often take my baby son. Aranka would put two tub chairs together to make a little bed for him and absolutely loved giving him cuddles. She had so much love, warmth and enthusiasm. She treated everyone like family and made us feel (and look) better. She was a force of nature and will be sorely missed. Very sad for your loss; and mine. I will miss her very much. I would very much like to speak with you, Bridgette but I never asked Aranka for your contact number so do not know how to get in touch and not sure this is the best place to leave my number. Perhaps you have her telephone book and can look up my number and give me a phone call; hopefully. Barbara K.

When I had to take my four-year old daughter with me to my appointment with Aranka, she was surprised that my daughter admired her rocks! She said no one else ever had.
A few days later, June 4th, we received a small rock in the mail from Aranka. It was her birthday as well as my daughter's.
I never forgot that kind gesture.
