MATTHEWS, Arthur Norman September 2, 1930 - November 12, 2017 Toronto Arthur Norman Matthews passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017, surround by his family. Art was a great husband and best friend, to Adele (nee Waterhouse) for 70 years. A fantastic father to Stephen, Diane and Lynne and proud grandpa of Stuart and Tegan. A friend to many near and far, Art will be missed by all who have known him. The family would like to give grateful thanks to both the ER and Tower 9 medical staff at Scarborough General Hospital for their professionalism, care and compassion. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Highland Funeral Home Scarborough Chapel (3280 Sheppard Avenue East) from 5 to 9 p.m. On Friday, November 17, 2017, there will be a visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a procession to Highland Memory Gardens (33 Memory Gardens Lane) where Art will be laid to rest. All are welcome. It will be an informal gathering at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Art's name may be made to the ALS Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
