ARTHUR OLSEN Obituary

ARTHUR VERNON OLSEN December 21, 1920 - October 28, 2016 Retired President, Canadian Thermos Ltd. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur after a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Port Perry. Arthur enjoyed over 60 years of marriage to his beloved wife, the late Margaret (nee Rivet). He will forever be in the hearts and minds of his children: Lynda (Clive), Janet (Mark) and Eric (Barb); grandchildren: Graeme (Sarah), Evan (Nicole), Alexander (Milica), Teagen and Jeffrey and great- grandchildren: Zoe, Callum and Ewan. Arthur was the son of the late Jenny and Staale Olsen and the caring brother to Arnold (Marty), Ellen, Ruth and sister- in-law Aileen. Arthur was predeceased by his siblings: Esther, Doris, Ralph and Fred. Uncle Art will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Arthur touched the lives of many through his 95 years and will be remembered with great fondness as "Ole", by Hugh and Rob McDonald and Anne Payne. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the care and concern extended to Arthur at Lakeridge Health Port Perry and by the staff at West Shore Village Retirement Residence. Friends are invited to join us in a Celebration of Arthur's Life at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905-985-7331), on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a time of sharing beginning at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Port Perry Hospital Foundation or to a charity important to you. Art' s Scandinavian heritage and depression era Prairie roots set the tone for his life and stood him well. He was tough minded but always fair and considerate. A good and caring listener.Fun loving but serious when required. A strong business mind , committed to his work, but never at the expense of his family and friends. He was devoted to them all, lifelong, without judgement ,and always caring and generous.
Art was a true gentleman and friend.
