Auseklis Ezergailis Obituary

EZERGAILIS, Auseklis (Gus Gailis) —

Passed away on October 5, 2015 in his 87th year surrounded in love by his wife and three daughters. Beloved husband of Heidi, loving father of Kristina (Spencer), Julija (Owen) and Linda (Jeff) and adored forever by his grandchildren Mitchell, Anna, Thomas, Emma, William and Heidi who will miss him more than words can describe. Born December 31, 1928 in Kosa, Latvia, the youngest child of Arturs Ezergailis and Alma (nee Kuze). Immigrated to Canada as a refugee after the Second World War, working in the mines of Noranda to assist in settling his extended family in Canada. He will be forever remembered for his strength, determination, big heart and good humour. Predeceased by his brothers Leonids and Janis, sister Maiga, brother-in-law Janis Petersons and his beloved nieces and nephew Ilga, Mara and Andy. Also survived by his sister-in-law Irene and nephew Martin. Family and friends will be received at the R.S.Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street at Goulding south of Steeles, on Thursday, October 8th from 2-4 p.m. and from 6:30-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church, 200 Balmoral Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M4V 1J6. Interment and reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to his beloved childhood church in Latvia to the Latvian Credit Union, 4 Credit Union Drive, North York M4A 2N8 (please specify "Skujenes Baznica in memory of Auseklis Ezergailis").
