HABIB, BARBARA JUDITH (nee ECKERT) June 16, 1932 – July 19, 2022 Barbara passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Daphne (Brian) and Sylvia (Patrick); and grandchildren, Alanna (Nicholas), Mitchell (Sally) and Nikola. Barbara was born in Berlin, Germany. She had a remarkable childhood as the daughter of a diplomat, living in many cities throughout Europe. She attended the University of Bonn and came to McMaster University as an exchange student in 1956. There, she met her soulmate, Edwin Habib, who was completing his Ph.D. in physics. They married in 1958, moving to Windsor, Ontario, where Barbara worked as a librarian and archivist, and Edwin a professor at the University. They were both life-long members of the University community. After Edwin passed away, she moved to Toronto to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren; and was both a student and lecturer at the Life Institute. Heartfelt thanks go to the compassionate staff at Parkland on the Glen, the Toronto Western and Credit Valley Hospitals. Donations gratefully accepted to the Mills Library Fund at McMaster University
