Barry CRAIG Obituary

Barry Gordon CRAIG BASc (Civil) It is with profound sadness that the Craig family announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Barry on May 10, 2018. He is reunited with the love of his life Susan (nee Haight). Barry was a loving, steady and guiding compass to his three children Jamie (Justin), David, Christie (Jordan) and the solid centre to his brother Stephen (Mary) and sister Catherine (John). He will be remembered as the cherished brother-in-law to Cheryl and Gordon (Joanne) Haight of Calgary and the fun uncle to Michael, Jeffrey, Allison and Keeley. He was the beloved son of the late George and Norma Craig and son-in-law of the late Gordon and Beverley Haight. He was a dear nephew to his aunts Christine, Dorothy and Pauline and always enjoyed connecting with his many cousins in the Craig, McCulloch, McCullough, Potter and Robinson families. Lolo Barry will be missed by Tessie and her family. Barry ran a successful contracting company for over forty years. He delighted his clients with his fine workmanship and dedication to their projects. Throughout the years, he developed relationships leading to many lasting friendships with his clients and colleagues. Barry was a loyal, long and steadfast friend to many he met at Park Lawn Public School, Royal York Collegiate, the University of Windsor and beyond. He had fond and happy memories growing up in his neighbourhood in Etobicoke where he participated in many sports and enjoyed just hanging out with the guys in the family basement. His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family and friends especially at Dyson Lake. Barry's quiet gentle kindness will be cherished and forever remembered by many. He will stay forever young. A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at The SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE Funeral Centre, Mississauga (1535 South Gateway Road) followed by a reception at Le Treport Convention Centre (1075 Queensway East). If desired, donations in Barry's memory may be made to: Jumpstart Charity-Canadian Tire (www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca); the George and Norma Craig Scholarship, awarded to students in the Department of Material Science and Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, University of Toronto (35 St. George Street, Room 116, Toronto M5S 1A4); or to a charity of your choice.

I was shocked then full of sadness to learn of Barry's premature death. He was a giving loving man who lived life in a way that makes us all proud. Good bye my friend. I know some of you knew Barry. I am then putting this on social media so you can take a moment and think of him and his family.

Dear Craig Family,

We offer our deepest and heartfelt condolences.

We were deeply honoured to know Barry and to consider him our close friend. Whether we were chatting about renovations, sitting on our deck in Muskoka having a beer or skiing together at Whistler, Barry was always a kind, helpful, patient and fun loving friend.

He left us too soon but will remain in our hearts forever.

Sincerely,

Jamie, Christine,

Our condolences to the Craig family. Spent some time with Barry last at the Long Horn at Whistler in December, 2016. (In between skiing and visits to the Whistler hospital.) Barry will be remembered as a warm gentle soul with a good sense of humour. He was taken much too soon.

One of the dearest, smartest, kindest men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He will be especially missed by all of us on our weekends at Lake Scugog - where we will continue to celebrate him, knowing that he will always be with us in spirit.

A shocking and terrible loss to the family and all that new and admired the kind and gentle soul that he was. Hard to believe we will not see that smile again.
