SWIFT, Bernadette Marie (nee O'Sullivan) - At Northumberland Hills Hospital, on Friday, February 21, 2014 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late James Swift. Cherished mother of Jacqueline Corcoran, Sharon Swift, Maria Palmer, David Swift (Sharon), Kristine Swift (David) and Adrienne Swift (Masamba). Loving grandmother of Aaron, Sean, Heather, Brandon, James, Garrett, Benjamin, Scott, Alexander, Patrick, Sebastian, Graham, Jack, Amanda and Thomas and great-grandmother to Caden, Ava and Olivia. Dearly loved by her brothers and sisters, and fondly remembered by her many nephews and nieces. Special thanks to Dr. Moorsom and staff at the Chemotherapy Clinic and Palliative Care, Northumberland Hills Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation at Ross Funeral Chapel, 135 Walton St., Port Hope, on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 155 Walton St., Port Hope. It is so hard to lose the heart of a family. My prayers go out to all those left behind, and who must now go on without their mom, grandmother, great grandmother,sibling, or perhaps, friend. To Sharon: Your mom was a gentle, loving, soul. May she be at peace. Love to you all xx

I never truly appreciated how much Marmar loved her Grandchildren until the last time I saw her. She was always supportive of everything we did, but the last conversation we had, she asked me about school and about volunteering, and she knew exactly what I was doing. I hadn't seen her in six months, but she knew because she took the time to know. She took the time to care about her grandchildren as if we were her own children. I will always miss you, Marmar, but I so incredibly happy to have you watching over us from a better place.
