Betty DAVIS Obituary

DAVIS (HUGGINS), Betty Irene Passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on February 19, 2018 in her 94th year. Betty was predeceased by her husband Leslie and her brother George (Alice). She will be greatly missed by her sister Jane and children Lee (Linda), Lynne (Malcolm), Cathy (Jim) and Susan (Stephen), as well as eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Betty grew up in the Beach, attended Malvern Collegiate and enlisted in the Wrens stationed in Halifax during WWII, where she met and started her life with Les... a life devoted to family, friends and church. She was an avid community volunteer at the local food bank and sang in the Fallingbrook Presbyterian Church choir for over 50 years. She had a zest for life and a mischievous side to her personality that greatly complemented her positive spirit. She always had a smile and saw the best in people, a gift to everyone who knew her. The family is very grateful for the care she received at Bendale Acres and especially the love and attention from her longtime caregivers, Bonnie, Jancinta and Vangie. A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held at Fallingbrook Presbyterian Church, 35 Wood Glen Rd., Scarborough, on Friday, March 2nd at 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. I was so sad to hear of Betty's passing from Bonnie. Not sure if you remember me, I knew Betty when she was at Kingsway Arms. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences, Betty was such a joy, a true lady with a wicked sense of humour! Much love to all the family

Susan, I was sorry to read about the passing of your Mother in the Toronto Star this weekend. I remember going to your place when we were at Courcelette P.S. I met your Mom at your place before we went for a hike in the woods behind your house. If I remember correctly, you contacted Poison Ivy! I lost my Mom 4 years ago, March 2/14. Even as our parents age and experience 'growing old' challenges, it is still sad when they pass. My sincere condolences to you and your Family during this time. Janice (McKellar) Southorn.
