BEVERLY STEEVES-WARDROP Obituary

BEVERLY STEEVES-WARDROP Passed away peacefully and courageously, in her 78th year, on Friday, March 24, 2017, with her family by her side. A loving, devoted wife and best friend to Stuart Wardrop who cherished her every day of their 41 years together. Loving and generous step-mother to Megan, Robin and Dana and grandmother to Hannah and Nicholas Turnbull. Bev had a distinguished career with RBC, at Head Office in Toronto, retiring as Manager of Compensation in the Systems Department. An ardent bridge player, she gained her Life Masters while living in retirement in Calgary. A graduate of both Bishop's University and MacDonald College, she taught at various High Schools in Montreal. Bev was an intelligent, witty, honourable, humble woman whose warmth and kindness made her many life time friends. Of note are Tanya Feldman, a friend since meeting in their first year at Bishop's in 1955 and Christine Chicoine whom she met over a bridge table in 1970. The family would like to acknowledge her friends and neighbours in the Landmark Book Club, where she lived in Ottawa. Our heartfelt respect and admiration to Dr. N. Fellegi who supported Bev and her family through the devastation of her terminal cancer and to the staff at Central West Hospice for their skill and compassion in palliative care. According to her wishes she was cremated privately. In lieu of a service and as Bev lived, please be kind and gentle with each other. Donations may be made, in her name, to Hospice Care Ottawa.

I met Bev at Bishop's University in 1955 and we have remained in touch since then. We attended a Bishop's Reunions and I traveled with her to Timmins to visit Tanya and Michael Feldman. The three of us met in Kingston for a mini-reunion and then in Ottawa to celebrate our most recent reunion at the home of Elaine Copland. Rest in peace Bev.

Bev was a special lady who will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for the person she was. May Stuart find peace in memories in a life shared.
