Bill was a caring, sensitive individual who in the mid-70's discreetly took me, a beginning teacher, under his wing to smooth with Earl Haig officials my blunders while saving embarassment without even letting me know. It was a pleasure and an honour to know him. mike bondy at Wellington, Prince Edward County.

Bill Myers was my high school gym/health teacher. He was the guy that made me want to be a teacher. I became one, and now am retiring after almost 40 years in education. He was a phenomenal human being.

I met Billy / Mr. Myers in Southampton and later, he was my phys. ed. coach at Earl Hag in grades 10 and 11 where he had an indelible impact on my understanding of social responsibility and good citizenship. I've always wished that we had kept in touch. I remember the other Myers, especially Brian, and hope these belated condolences reach you.

I was actually in Dubai when I got the sad news of Billy's passing. I often think of the days on the field with Billy and Craig back in the '60's. It was a very important part of my life, and I learned a lot. Condolences to Jan, Lynn, Lee, Tracey and Brian and their families. He will be missed and remembered.

Bill was a great teacher, sportsman, coach and independent thinker. My condolences to his family and friends. He was an absolute legend at Earl Haig and I very much enjoyed his classes during my time there in the early 70s. Bill certainly seized the day.

Although I didn't play football, I did have the good fortune of having Mr. Myers as my Health and Phys. Ed. teacher for a year, during my time at the Haig in the early 70s. He was a great teacher and a great guy and he clearly had a passion for the game of tennis, which I believe rubbed off on me.
My sincerest condolences to his family.

Bill was a great football coach, teacher and mentor to so many of his students and football players me being one of them. He helped us not just on the field but in life creating good values and he helped prepare us for time after High School.

Sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Myers. He was a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and kindness. He helped players even after he finished coaching, and he understood teaching, its real roles, and what education is all about. Thank you for being you and thank you for being part of my life.

Suffice to say, Mr. Myers or Coach or Uncle Billy, made a tremendous impact on all our lives. Mr. Meyers was my coach and Phys Ed teacher during my formative years at the Haig. To say that he made things exciting, as well as entertaining, challenging, motivating and enlightening, would be a gross understatement. Thank you, Coach! RIP! My condolences to the Myers family and friends

While I did not play for Mr. Myers football team, I was a student of his and I learned a great deal about teaching in his classes which I later used in teaching tennis and academic subjects. Thanks to my brother Bill Milne and our good friend Kirk Andrews, I got to meet and know Billy Myers later in life. My condolences to the Myers Family.

Opening game of the '71 championship seasonthe Haig was beating Newtonbrook; 31-0and Coach Myers told us no more passes, no more touchdowns, we're going to work on our kicking game. That's the kind of good sport that he wasno point in stomping on the opposition when they were down. It was a life lesson that I've never forgotten, in fact, the last time I saw Billy, about 12 years ago, I told him how much I appreciated it. He beamed. Rip Coach.

I first met Bill when I had a P.A. day in Junior high and I was hitting tennis balls by myself at the North York Tennis club. He must halve been on lunch break from Earl Haig and he came over to me and introduced himself to me "Hi, I'm Bill do you mind if I hit with you?" He was sneaky good for an old man (Ha!Ha!)and I found out the next year why. My first day at the Haig I saw him walking in the hall (as I remember) and he recognized me and he told me he was a P.E. Teacher. As it turned out he was my P.E. Teacher.. I loved his class and teaching method as I am sure everybody who was in his class did. I went out to try out for the senior varsity football team. Guess what? He was the head coach. He made me feel right at home. I felt that way all the way through High School and every time I saw him afterwards. I remember one night after a game he invited the team back to his and Jan's home in Maple. Jan had a wonderful spread laid out. Then he introduced us to three little kids in a bathtub. Yeas, Lee, Brian and Tracy and he said he would be getting into the tub with him. We marvelled at his openness compared to our parents. Theta was Bill and his family. What a great crew. I am so happy I met you all and especially Bill (some of us called him "Uncle Billy" behind his back and he was like a really good uncle to us all. I will be at a specialists appointment on Friday will be unable to come to his celebration. With great fondness Bill Milne (519) 900-9066.

I have an enduring memory of Mr. Myers standing on the sidelines, pouring rain, wearing his over-sized raincoat, fisherman's hat pulled low on his head while providing endless encouragement. He gave us all an inspiring experience to last us a lifetime. Thanks Mr. Myers!!!

Some people leave an indelible mark on your life, teach you how to be a good team mate and the idea you can be a better person. Loyalty, respect, hard work, team -- I know more about these things because of Billy Myers.

My son nailed it for me. He only knows Bill a little bit, mostly from the deck of the Tennis Club where he played agility games with the kids as they passed and gave them encouragement on their game and sportsmanship. When I told him the news he said "What, the guy with the glasses? [flip-ups] Not THAT guy." Exactly! You will be so missed Bill. Thanks for the legacy you leave in us all, and love to the Myers family.
