It was always a joy and pleasure to work with Bob or "New Bob" as we called him. He was always ready to help and truly enjoyed what he did. Thanks for the memories and the laughs along the way to making some truly great TV programs.
Blessing and condolences to your family.

I would like to add a bit to Ivan Harris' mention of the remote truck rebuild, as the entire event shows how important talented people like Bob were to the well-being of the CBC. Bob made a significant contribution that should be remembered.
It was the early 90's and I was Director of the TV Production Centre. We had a huge production load which included sitcoms and other series programming and, at that time, these programs were shooting in a new style involving four cameras and a quad-split screen.
Unfortunately the programs were all paying outrageous amounts to rent a sitcom truck because all our other mobiles were fully booked. There had to be a better way. We checked with EHQ who advised that building a new one would cost over $3,500,000.
The shell of the old Mobile 60 truck sat behind Studio Four, with some outdated equipment in it. I recall a conversation with Bob about rebuilding it as a sitcom truck and he confidently stated: "We can do it." So, he was asked to do the homework and come up with a price and a work plan.
About three or four weeks later Bob had determined that he and his crew could get the job done for a little over $1,000,000. My Operations Manager, Jim Rogers, was with me and I remember we looked Bob in the eye and said: "We can get you the million dollars, but we need to know that you can pull it off."
Without hesitating, Bob looked right back and said: "We can build what you need." Long story short, Bob didn't just build it, he also came in under budget.
Bob and his crew, having breathed new life into Mobile 60, wanted a small blue Phoenix painted on the back of the trailer. Someone from Head Office in Ottawa heard about the Phoenix and wrote to say it was against the rules. The Network was very happy to tell Ottawa that we weren't concerned about the rules. If Bob and his crew wanted a Phoenix they could have it....and they did.
Sincere condolences to Bob's family.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob during a massive rebuild of a Remote Truck for CBC at the Studio Four location in Toronto. He was a clever Engineer, and good to work with. We had some humorous times and challenges, and we made it come together.
