BRADLEY CAREW Obituary

CAREW, BRADLEY JAMES It is with great sadness that the family of Bradley James Carew announces his passing on September 21, 2024. Brad will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Maire; his children, Erin (TJ), Conor (Jael), Lauren (Mike), Jennifer (Daryl) and Tim; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Lucie, Molly, Taylor, Brooklyn, Claire, Rowan, Kali, Fia and Noa; his sister, Susan and husband, John; brother, Larry and wife, Nancy; and his huge extended family. Fondly remembered by his dart buddies, the Algonquin park crew and his many friends. Anyone who knew Brad has suffered a Brad joke: "don't stop me if you've heard this." He loved the outdoors, fishing in Algonquin Park, golf with his sons-in-law and friends in Alliston, and was a wiz when it came to darts. He had a long career with the Toronto Star as a manager in the circulation department. He always said he bled blue. In 2000, he was forced to "retire" due to a heart issue that he'd had since birth. In spite of multiple operations and setbacks, he lived every day of his life to the max. More than anything else, he loved his family. He was the coolest Dad, Grandad and best friend to his wife, Maire. As the years went by, his illness shrank his world but the smile never faded. He was a gentle man, a courageous man, and a man who was loved by everyone who knew him. Many many thanks to Dr. Mark Fisher and the team at Toronto General Hospital, especially Dr. Michael McDonald, Dr. Andrew Ha, and our guardian angel, Stella Kozuszko. Celebration of Life to be held at Henley Gardens, 1093 Kingston Rd., October 7th, from 2-5 p.m.

Hi there. My name is Rob Bunn, Dave's brother.my sincere condolences on your loss of Brad. I am one of the Algonquin crew so I knew him for, well I can say over 25 years. I was the young one of the group so Brad was an inspiration to me. Always with a story or advise. Many times I would sit on the rock and he would have his one glass of wine and share stories of past trips. Always a smile and a laugh. I still go twice a year with the crew. Mike came a few weeks ago. Great guy that learned how to fillet a trout from the best ever. We had many toasts to Brad a few weeks ago as we played dice. A game he was crappy at because it involved lying and everyone could tell if was not telling the truth. I will make sure we all tell a story about him as long as I can make it to the park. Sincerely Rob Bunn,

Marie and Susan and family, we were so sorry to hear of Brad's passing. I remember him as a young lad coming to visit at the farm and he had such a great sense of humour and appreciation of life even then. The way he chose to live his life to the fullest despite adversity is an example for us all. Sadly we cannot attend the celebration of life, but our thoughts will be with you all. Dearest Marie,
Sending you big hugs during this very difficult time. I still smile at the amazing visit Liz and I enjoyed at your place up by Parry Sound. You and Brad were so welcoming and it was joyful to see how very happy you were. You made a fantastic couple and made an exceptional life together getting the most out of every day. You were a beautiful team. Be gentle with yourself and let the love from family and friends keep you strong. Prayers and love, Betsy
