BRIAN DORWARD Obituary

BRIAN PAUL DORWARD It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Paul Dorward, on March 24, 2016 at the age of 73. As a Teacher and Educator for more than 30 years, Brian was passionate about academic achievement and lifelong learning. Brian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters of Education, yet his personal endeavors encompassed mechanical or electrical repairs, mastering new technology or complex renovations, enabled by self- taught skills and knowledge. In his early retired years, Brian earned his flying license and more recently enjoyed bridge rounds with groups in Toronto and North Port, Florida. With his resourceful nature and enthusiasm for problem- solving, Brian derived great satisfaction from being able to assist friends with information or specific tools to resolve their challenges. Brian was known for his genuine sense of encouragement and humour and often had comical anecdotes to share during times of need. Brian was immensely fond of his beloved friend of more than 68 years, Murray Fitzpatrick, his wife Maureen and the entire Fitzpatrick family. Although they were divorced, Brian will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years Linda Dorward and sadly missed by his children Kristine and Adam, daughter-in-law Serena and granddaughter Julia. Brian also leaves behind his brother Dave Dorward and wife Brenda. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, April 9th, at the McLean House, Estates of Sunnybrook, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4N 3M5, from 1-4 p.m.

Brian was an integral member of the RTO bridge group for many years. We all enjoyed his sense of humour and helpfulness. He is already missed.

Linda, Kristine and Adam - I am so sorry for your loss. Brian was the Best Man at our wedding on October 19,1974. We met snowmobiling and became instant friends...and then lost touch with each. A good man gone far too soon.

Very sorry to hear of Brian's passing - much too young. Brian was one of our group of friends that hung together during our early Humberside H.S. years. My condolences to his family and good friends.

I have fond memories of Brian as a colleague at Henry Kelsey and I will miss him deeply. He was a role model for me on how to live life fully, always trying new things, always learning. I am so sorry he is gone.

Linda, Kristine, and Adam - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your husband and father was a great person and educator. We had many good times at Henry Kelsey while he was part of the staff. Brian also joined us a number of times when the retired Kelsey staff memebers got together for a lunch. We will miss him.

Although I did not know Brian Dorward, my name is David Dorward, living here in the GTA so I am distantly related I would think. My condolences on his passing.

Dear Linda, Kristine, Adam and Dave,
I'm so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of Brian. My fondest memories of him are when he used to make Alex laugh incessantly, when she was a baby, with his relentless tickling and silly antics. He was the epitome of the "crazy uncle". I'm so sorry for your loss (...but Isabel will be very happy to see him again!)
Love,
Adrianne
