Bruce Langdon Obituary

BRUCE ALEXANDER LANGDON August 22, 1931 - July 13, 2011 Bruce Langdon passed away exactly in the manner that he had lived his life, with courage and dignity surrounded by his closest friends and loving family. Bruce is survived by his wife Doreen, his daughter Luanne (Keith) and his son Stan. Bruce was proud Papa to Adam, Candace and Christopher. Bruce was part of an amazing family that includes his sisters Adele Laughton, Margaret Herron and sister-in-law Betty Langdon. He is predeceased by his brother Alvin Langdon and brothers- in-law Glenn Laughton and Robert Herron. He was cherished and admired by 16 nieces and nephews and 27 grand-nieces and nephews. They knew Uncle Bruce as an avid sportsman, hockey, baseball and his greatest passion "golf". Bruce had played many of the greatest golf courses in the world; many of his greatest friendships were forged on the golf course. Bruce was proud of the Langdon family name and followed his father and brother into the family business. The family would like to acknowledge and thank over 1000 former staff members and associates of the Dixie Car Wash group of Companies. Proud, strong and courageous, Bruce was an inspiration to all that knew him. He loved this Irish poem May the road rise up to meet you May the wind always be at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Bruce often spoke of the velvet fog at St. Andrews, the salty mist of Pebble beach, the sweet scent of azaleas at Sea Island and the clean fresh morning dew at Pine Valley. Your foursome is waiting Dad and they say "Bucky your away", with God's grace and your family's complete love and devotion we say Godspeed to Heaven. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10 N. of QEW), on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment Springcreek Cemetery. A reception to follow at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club. In Bruce's memory, donations may be made to the Ian Anderson House / Hospice Oakville.

Lighting a candle as a small gesture of my deep love for my beloved Uncle Bruce. He was a fantastic Uncle. He loved to be with us when we were children & would take us anywhere we wanted to go. As we grew into adulthood that didn't change - The conversations just got deeper and wiser but the joy of being together remained always. Peace, blessed Peace be with you. Your loving niece.
