BRUCE MURRAY Obituary
BRUCE MURRAY With heavy hearts, the family of Robert Bruce Murray announces his passing on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Orillia at the age of 75. Known by many terms of endearment ("The Leader", "Sudsy" and "The Old "Dead of Course" Storyteller), Bruce leaves behind his wife Betty-Jean, former wife Susan, sons Cameron of Milton and Keith (Amanda) of Huntsville, daughter Vanessa (Kevin) Moss of Midland and step-sons Regan (Jenny) of Keswick, Ryan of Hamilton, Rustin (Christine) of Toronto and Reade (Penny) of Georgetown and a loving group of grandchildren - Kirsten, Connor, Bailey, Hannah, Luke, Brayden, Liam, Jack, Will, Parker, Kate and Charlie and not to be forgotten, his favourite yellow lab, Winston. Also left behind, his brother Doug (Yvonne), sisters Linda, and Cathy (Lou) Romanelli and many nieces and nephews and friends from as far back as his early childhood years in York. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Molly and Bruce Murray . A former firefighter with York Township, Bruce was an avid fisherman and golfer and a great hockey and baseball fan. One of Bruce's regrets is that he never had the opportunity to enjoy, with his kids, a Stanley Cup win by the Maple Leafs. Bruce's love of cooking, music and his ability to tell (and retell) a story, often made him the life of the party - traits he passed on to his children. He was a wonderful partner, husband, father and friend. Bruce could travel thousands of miles and still meet someone with whom he had a mutual acquaintance and once met, he never forgot them. In any situation, he always had just the right words to say. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial for their kindness towards Bruce during his final hours and his family doctor of 40 years, Dr. Peers. For family and friends, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 2 - 6 p.m., upstairs in the Milton Legion, 21 Charles Street, Milton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Coldwater Legion Poppy Fund would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to LeClair Cremation Centre.
