STANDING, Bruce (Retired Toronto Firefighter) Suddenly in his sleep while on vacation at a cottage on Monday, July 21, 2008. Bruce Standing of Bradford at 54 years of age. Beloved husband of Bev (Maddock) of 27 years. Dear father of Lindsay Standing (Dave LeBlanc) and Michael Standing. Dear son of Betty Wyne and the late Albert Standing. Dear brother of Keith (Denise) Standing, uncle of Cory (Terri) and Michael Mainprize. Dear brother-in-law of Robert (Susan) Maddock and Paul (Barbara) Maddock. Cherished uncle of Jennifer and Stephanie; Nicole (Dave) and Alex Maddock. Toby and Mitchell, his black labs, have lost their best friend. Bruce served with the Toronto Fire Services (previously North York) for over 27 years. He was recognized as serving with 'Courage, Compassion and Service'. He worked part-time at Bradford Highlands Golf Course for the last few years. Bruce was a hockey player, coach and fan. He loved being on a golf course, or in his boat on the water. Bruce adored his family. He was a true friend to many. He will surely be missed by all of them. Our thanks to Dr. Cohen of Sunnybrook for allowing us to have him with us these last five years and the tremendous care given by Dr. Zadra and Dr. Kaplan and their staff. Friends may call at SKWARCHUK FUNERAL HOME, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) for visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Lathangue Chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment York Cemetery, Toronto. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cardiac Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket would be appreciated.
