CARL FERRIS Obituary

CARL GRAYDON FERRIS Carl Graydon Ferris, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 6, 2016 at Toronto General Hospital. Carl is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara; his son William; his mother Grace; father Don; sister Erin and her husband Leigh; his nephews Byrne and Lane; and niece Kira; and the rest of his family and friends. Carl was born June 4, 1953, had a fondness for gardening and considered himself an amateur horticulturist; a love for boating where he spent many years cruising Lake Muskoka; enjoyed cooking shows and barbequing. During his life at the cottage, there were many times when the peaceful surroundings of the Muskoka woods would turn grey as the ever-challenging annual wrestling match with the lake pump took hold and never disappointed him in putting up a good fight, but Carl always won in the end. He was a naturalist at heart (in the true sense of the word) and loved nothing more than to be in Muskoka at his family's cottage sitting by the lake and listening to the loons. He loved music, live plays, cars and boats and was a true animal lover. He was a committed husband and adoring father who thought that meatloaf was a dish best left alone. Pasta and steak were his favourites with a cold one sitting close by. Dessert was either coconut cream pie or chocolate mousse. He would always be there with a helping hand for any of his friends or family and enjoyed getting together for food, drink and laughs. Leaving behind many memories for others, he also left behind a hell of a lot of stuff his wife and son have no idea what to do with. Carl's friends and family are invited in celebrating his life on Thursday, May 12, 2016 between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. at The Simple Alternative, 275 Lesmill Road, Toronto, ON M3B 2V1.

I only recently discovered Carl had passed away.
My condolences to Mr. & Mrs. Ferris, and Erin.
Our family lived down the hill on Kenilworth.
Carl & I were best pals at Glen Ames, and then grade 9 at Monarch Park.
Our family moved to Scarborough and we lost touch, some 50 years ago.
Carl was cars, cars, cars, as was I.

We were most saddened to learn of Carl's passing. He was both a cheerful fellow and a helpful neighbour. We recall several occasions when he corralled our escaped sheltie and brought her back to our yard. Our thoughts are with Barb, William, Grace, Don, Erin, Leigh, Byrne, Lane and Kira at this difficult time.

I know Carl as a good natured person always with a smile. I remember sitting in Leigh & Erin's living room with Carl and Barb talking about cars at the last family gathering. Guess what we were eating? Coconut cream pie.
He will be greatly missed as part of our events together. Love!

My sincerest condolences to all the family. I still can't believe it. I can still remember us all playing together on the street and at the cottage. May all your memories you have of Carl give you comfort through these difficult times
