SHIELDS, CAROLINE ELSIE 1938 - 2022 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Caroline Shields, at the age of 84 in Scarborough, on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, John (2003). She is survived by her children, Linda (Sargon) and Bill; and by her grandchildren, Aaron (Megan) and Alysha. She will be missed by her brother, Harold; and by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother, John. While still in high school, Caroline worked for the family's roofing business. After graduating from R.H. King High School, she went to Teacher's College and immediately began teaching. She spent her 35 year career teaching for the M.S.S.B., mainly at St. Martin dePorres, St. Victor, and Sacred Heart. While teaching, she managed to complete her B.A. along with raising her family. Caroline always enjoyed going to the cottage, first at Six Mile Lake, then at Horseshoe Lake. She enjoyed boating, working and playing in the outdoors with her faithful dog, Toto. In retirement, she enjoyed travelling, going on cruises, and line dancing. Caroline also participated in activities at the Scarborough Legion. Many happy summers were spent at the cottage. A generous and hospitable soul, she will be fondly remembered as welcoming to all. She will be sorely missed by many friends, as well as by her family. Visitation on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 2900 Kingston Rd. (just east of St. Clair Ave. E.).
