CATHERINE VALENTI Obituary

VALENTI, CATHERINE (nee De GAETANO) Catherine Valenti, 65, returned to her heavenly home on November 25, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her faith and devotion to her family supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Beloved wife of Santino. Cherished mother of Adam and Richard (Mary Rose). Devoted Nonna of Matthew, Chiara, Gianna and Maria Teresa. Doting daughter of Maria (née Pirri) and the late Santo De Gaetano. Loving sister of Antonette (David Matthews). Predeceased by her brother Joseph. Kindly remembered by brothers-in-law Paul (Rosa), Joe (Antonietta), Tony (Rosetta), Carmen (Pina), Carmelo and sisters-in-law Pasqua and Franca. Predeceased by sisters-in-law Maria and Palma and brother-in-law Franco. Fondly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. An accomplished and dedicated elementary school teacher (MSSB), Sunday School teacher, Youth Minister, CWL member and Executive member of the St. Bonaventure Parish Council. Also an avid gardener, artist, theatre-goer and cook, who enriched the lives of others with her enthusiasm, hospitality, sense of humour and perpetual smile. Cathy was always friendly, helpful and empathetic towards all. The Valenti family extends their gratitude to Dr. Ferguson of Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. Dhar of Toronto General Hospital, and PSWs Michelle and Hyacinth for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Princess Margaret Hospital or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Rd. E. (west of Bayview Ave.), from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28th and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m on Thursday, November 29th. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 150 St. Francis Ave., Woodbridge, on Friday, November 30th at 9:30 a.m. The final rite of committal and interment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., Thornhill).
