CHARLES WILLIAM 'BILL' LORD At 84 years, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Beloved husband of Ethel (Smutylo), predeceased 1985, and Joyce (Alexander) of Levack. Dear son of Charles and Nora Mary (Donnelly) Lord, both predeceased. Dear step-father of Heather Taylor (husband Paul) of Scarborough and step-grandfather of Laurie, Douglas and Robert. Loving brother of Nora Piaskoski, predeceased, Edith Simpson of Calgary and Nettie Sherwood-Tappen, predeceased. Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Syracuse New York, Charles moved to Sudbury at the age of two, moving to Levack in 1936. He worked for Levack Taxi from 1948 to 1956, becoming the Owner and Operator of Lord's Bus Lines from 1955 to 1974. Bill served with the R.C.A.F. overseas in WWII as a Tailgunner, Bomber Command and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503 Levack-Onaping. Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St., at Hazel St., Sudbury. Funeral Service in St. John's United Church, Levack Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Maplecrest Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday under the auspices of the R.C.L. Branch 503 Levack-Onaping. Donations to the R.C.L. Poppy Fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, no visitation Saturday.)
