Charlotte Thorpe Obituary
We are sad beyond measure to announce the passing of a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, cousin, niece and friend. Beloved daughter of Nancy and Derek, Charlotte passed away peacefully and always gorgeous on Thursday, April 14, 2016, aged 21. A fine viola player, Charlotte will find the peace and serenity she so richly deserves. Friends may visit Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Monday from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Donations, for those who wish, to Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra, Charlotte Thorpe Memorial Fund. I am heartbroken for you Nancy and Derek and the entire Henry and Thorpe families. Charlotte's lovely face and serene pose belies the turmoil and medical issues she had to battle.I have prayed for her recovery over the years but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. So much potential , so much life still to experience.. no explaining why her young life was so filled with strife when others seem to glide through. I firmly believe that at least she is now at rest and fully well, joyous in the presence of God. She was an angel sent to you to touch you in numerous ways. She shall never. be forgotten and we mourn her loss.

The family of Charlotte
Charlotte was a talented person in many ways. I never heard her play an instrument but I did see her her expertise in knitting. She was able to do intricate patterns that were far beyond what I could do. When I last saw her we exchanged some patterns and talked about the gloves she had made. My condolences to her family. What a terrible loss.

I didn't know Charlotte too well, we were ESA together for a year, but she was a year older so we weren't classmates. But I always remember her as someone who was extremely talented and always smiling. She would make a lot of witty comments during rehearsal and I always remember thinking she was someone really cool, even though we weren't in the same grade. You were my best friend. I can't possibly express in writing how much I loved you, and how much I miss you. You were always there for me, no matter what was going on in your life. You would drop everything to listen and support me. You gave so selflessly, and taught me so much about life, about love, about people, and compassion. You inspired me to help others, and opened my eyes to many important issues in the world. I am so grateful and blessed to have been your best friend.
It was music that brought us together and everything else in life kept us connected. I will never forget the wonderful times we spent. There are so many mementos you left me with, and I hold on to them dearly as I grieve for you.

Charlotte and I met at Humber River Regional Hospital. She was a good friend to me. Although I have not known Charlotte very long, I remember her knitting, her love of coffee, us doing some arts and crafts together and going to the nearby park on our breaks. I will miss Charlotte dearly and I hope she is in heaven smiling down on her friends and family. My condolences go out to her family and friends.

To Charlotte's parents and other loved ones,
I am the mother of one of Charlotte's friends. Magali Toy and Charlotte met through music years ago and became very close friends, even though there were periods of time when they were busy with their own things and didn't spend much time together. I met Charlotte through Magali, of course, and immediately could see what a wonderful person Charlotte was so intelligent and thoughtful, with her own perceptive way of interpreting the world. I really liked that she and Magali were friends because it was always enjoyable and interesting when I had to play chauffeur and drive them to one music event or another and tried my best to push in on their intriguing chats!
When I heard the heartbreaking news this morning that wonderful Charlotte had left this world, I couldn't believe it. I felt this huge ache in my heart and pain in my stomach, like I'd just been punched. I missed her already. And then I thought of you, her parents, and my heart hurt even more. It's cliché, but it's true: no bond is as great as that between a parent and child. So, despite it being broken, my heart goes out to you at this impossibly sad time. And in the days of grief ahead, may you be comforted, both by the wonderful memories you have of Charlotte, as well as by knowing that she will always live in our hearts.

Charlotte.. It was only a few years ago, when we used to run to Booster Juice or Subways after TSYO rehearsals and chat and laugh about the most random things (for hours!). You were a wonderful musician, friend, and person, and you are incredibly missed by everyone around you.

Charlotte was my first viola friend to meet for my music career - she was very talented and I was always inspired by her love and passion toward her viola playing.
