In loving memory of Chris Christou Peacefully, in his sleep in his 89th year. Beloved husband, survived by his loving wife, Nitsa, (predeceased by his first wife, Fane). Dear father to Tom (Judi), Angelo, Penny (John), Millie (Jerome). Loving grandfather to Christopher, Catherine (Domenic), Nicholas, Matthew, Matthew, Melissa, Rachel and Anastasia, and great-grandfather to Domenic. Devoted son, predeceased by his father Stavro Christou and mother Elenka. Cherished brother, survived by his siblings Kosta, Velika and Sofia, and predeceased by siblings Athena, Menka and Mike. Chris was born in Agia Paraskevi/Sveta Petka, Greece, and immigrated to Canada in 1959 in search of opportunity for himself and his family. As a new Canadian, he worked a variety of jobs in the restaurant business until he was able to open his own restaurant. Chris owned a number of restaurants but was most proud of his success with his son, Angelo, in opening the first Sunset Grill on Queen Street East. Chris' grandchildren loved to hear his stories about his childhood in Greece, even if they heard them many times before. Chris leaves behind many friends in Canada, and in Florida where he wintered for about 30 years. He will be greatly missed by the "Scarborough Mafia" with whom he and Nitsa met on a regular basis for coffee and chats - some of those friends he has known all of his life. Social gatherings among his Florida friends will be more sombre this winter without his presence. Chris will be especially missed by his loving family, and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery & Visitation Centre at 625 Birchmount Road in Scarborough (416- 267-8229), on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m., and interment. PROOF OF VACCINATION and IDENTIFICATION.

You do not know me, however my brother Bud Tapp worked for your family at the "sunrise" for several years during the late 1940's as a short order cook. I has the opportunity to go and visit during the daytime I would have been about 4-5 yrs. My first dog Curly and I would come up and talk a booth and order an ice cream ,sundae or one in a tall One waitress who worked at the time there had "tall" hair . Bud would always pay for it when he would come into work.
Bud passed away in 1987 with a heart attack.
Blessings to you all, God Bless,
Carol Tapp

To the entire family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the memories you shared comfort you during this difficult time. We would see Chris many times during his stroll to Penny’s house or outside doing gardening. Our fondest memory is when we would see Nitza and Chris all dressed up ready to meet their friends for coffee. God Bless and may he Rest In Peace.

Dear Tom, Judi, Angelo and Family. We are greatly sorry to hear the passing of your Dad. Life is so short, and every day is a special one. Celebrate all your fathers memories because that's the way he would want you to remember him. We also have memories of your Dad behind the counter making everyone work hard, and fast. Always a happy conversation. Kathy and Darryl Parsons.
