Dear Greta and family: I am sorry I had lost contact with you and Chris and was so shocked to see his obituary in the Guelph Alumni mag . I really found myself remembering our years at Guelph and the times shared. If you could send me your address I would like to touch base as both of my boys are in BC now. JIm and I were so sad to hear of Chris' passing, he was a wonderful man. Jim and Chris knew each other from grade school in Woodbridge. I lost my older brother at the age of 57 and it is much too young to leave your family. Our thoughts are with Greta and the kids, I'm sure they're heartbroken. Our deepest sympathy, Jim and Rhonda Locke, Waterloo, Ontario

To the Garriock family; Wayne and I were very sorry to hear the news of Chris. Our thougts and prayers are with all of you. Chris was a very brave, funny and wise man. The first time I met Chris and Greta was at the cancer clinic 7 years ago. I was going in for my first visit and he just got a clean bill of health. He told me not to worry I would be fine and drink lots of beer. He was right, I had nothing to worry about. For that I laugh and will be forever grateful to have met Chris. Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel watching over you.

I've just returned from the Memorial service that captured the essence of Chris, his love for life, his irreverence, his impact on people, his legacy for his beloved kids, his warm loving relationship with his Greta. It cast my mind back to when I travelled from Vancouver to meet Chris and Greta in Ottawa and was captured by their commitment to living life to the fullest and telling it like it is. Then I fast forward to their arrival with the Garriock gang to take on Victoria. Total commitment, no half measures. Our ServiceMaster family in Western Canada was young, naive and struggling to find its identity. Chris and Greta and the Garriock kids quickly strengthened the family by their presence at meetings, Christmas parties with Santa, parties in their motel room, in their back yard, always with the guitar and beer. And leading the way was the omnipresent Chris stories that kept us all in stitches for hours on end. Greta laughed with us as though she was hearing the stories for the first time. They infected us all with their love of life and each other. Chris' industry knowledge, technical expertise, his intelligence and people skills influenced all of us and drew us to his natural leadership. It was at this time that our family here developed its identity.
Greta, Meghan, Erin, Scott, we thank you for sharing a part of your life and Chris with us. Our lives have been enriched. Our thoughts are with you at this time. from
the ServiceMaster family in BC, past and present.
