Cora Moore Obituary

CORA MOORE

(nee TESTA)

Early Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Michael Garron Hospital, Cora passed peacefully from this life ending a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She lived life on her own terms, fiercely and passionately. She was a talented and creative force, loving to teach her children and others, and always singing her heart out along the way. She did everything possible to engender a well-roundedness in her children. Having emigrated from Malta in 1953, she fell in love with the lushness and diversity of Canada. She will be sadly missed by her children Ken, John (Kelly), Marina, David, Robert, and Andrea (Rob); her grandchildren Fergus, Josh, Owen, Toby and Serena; her surviving sisters Josette, Sandra and Marie; nephews Roger, Michael, Jack; nieces Erika, Ruth and Francesca; grand-nephew George and grand-nieces Lara, Hannah and Julia, as well as a wealth of friends, neighbours and so many others whose lives she touched daily until the end. A visitation will take place at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Saturday, January 28th at 9 a.m. with Words or Remembrance at 10 a.m. Interment to follow. Donations can be made to AIDS Committee of Toronto, Canadian Mental Health Association, Catholic Children's Aid Society and SickKids Hospital.

Kenneth and Marina in particular because when we were little we used to play together. I remember our moms being best friends and how much fun we had as families getting together. I always remembered your mom fondly as someone I could always go to for lunch when we went to Our Lady of Fatima or some of the great Maltese dishes she used to make with my mom. So sorry to hear her passing but rest assured, she is in God's hands as she always had a loving heart especially for children. I am sure she is already sharing time and stories with my mom in heaven. God bless all of you.

What a beautiful written tribute to your mom Andrea. Sending blessings for strength and peace as you and your family travel through this most sad part of your lives. Your mom may no longer be part of this earthly existence however you have a guardian angel now watching over you. Condolences to you all.

Cora had an amazing gift! She made everyone she met feel valued and special. She was always energetically your "cheerleader" and "champion." We who worked with her during her "O'Connor days" were extremely blessed--- by her friendship and loyalty. I pray that we, who where the recipients of her kind spirit, will will continue to "pay it forward."

My sincere condolences to her family

Cora was such a huge part of my life as a small child. Before starting school, Cora provided child care for me while my mother worked. I grew up with great respect for this lady. She sewed many beautiful dresses until I took great interest and began sewing myself. My mom always kept in touch with Cora and kept me informed when I lived in another city. I'm now 61 and still remember the time Cora took care of me like it was yesterday, just like the picture, that is my Cora.
Cora, you lived life to the fullest and enriched my life, rest peacefully!

My condolences to Cora's family. She was the first guidance secretary at Senator O Connor and a wonderful light in our guidance office. She talked often about her children and of Malta . Cora was a person of many gifts with a great good heart . I have never forgotten her. She made my daughter's prom dress years ago and it was so beautiful. Rest in peace Cora.

Cora was my eldest sister and though we were about 12 years apart there was a special bond between us; to her I was still her baby sister though even my hair's turned quite white since a few years back. Josette and i spoke to her only a very few days before her passing on to eternal life. She was quite breathless and so we cut our conversation short intending to chat again within a few days - but that wasn't to be. Cora rest in peace in the loving arms of God who helped and guided you thru' life. Marie xxx

As a former secretary at Senator O'Connor I worked with Cora in the late 80'sand we developed a great friendship. The years separated us. I met Cora a few times after her retirement. Great lady couldn't keep her pace. She worked hard all her life and knew exactly what she wanted.
Rest in peace Cora, you will always be remembered.

As a former student at Senator O'Connor, Ms. Moore was always a bright face in the office. She worked tirelessly and was always fiercely just. God rest her soul.

So sad to hear the news of Cora's passing. She was a fiercely proud, energetic and talented person.

Cora and I worked at the same school in the 80s. She was full of zest and common sense and always ready to laugh. She made a Maid of Honour dress for me and through that experience I got to know her a little better. I met her again at another function a few years back - she hadn't changed a bit. She was a great lady. Condolences to her family.

I am so deeply saddened by this news. Cora was one of my favourite people. I loved her expansive spirit, her voice, her accent, the way she said my name, the way she would often finish a statement (or a question) with "yes?", her straight forward and upbeat manner.

As a kid, I remember summer days when her windows were open and we could hear her singing her heart out throughout the neighbourhood. She was a good, good woman who was so kind to our family. In later years, she never failed to ask me about my family and always had a good word to say about everyone. We so loved having her at my sister, Anita's 50th birthday party.

She was a talented seamstress who made at least three bridesmaid dresses for me. Even when I was a child, I remember how respectfully she talked to me and really listened to everything I said. She was a true role model.

My deepest sympathy to Ken, John, Marina, David, Robert and Andrea and your families. How blessed you were to have her as your Mom and how blessed she felt by the legacy she has left in all of you.
